600 W Fulton Amenity Space

Chicago, IL 5,000 sqft

What was once a windowless ground-level storage room has been transformed into a vibrant tenant lounge that redefines the experience of shared amenity space in a commercial office building. The design team saw potential in the overlooked footprint and set out to create a warm, welcoming environment that fosters connection, comfort, and creativity.

To counter the lack of natural light, smoked glass mirrors were strategically placed to evoke the illusion of windows, reflecting movement and softening the space with ambient depth. A large-scale forest graphic spans the feature wall, bringing the outdoors in and anchoring the lounge in a sense of calm and biophilic inspiration. The result is a space that feels expansive, cheerful, and grounded—despite its subterranean origins.

The lounge now includes a fully equipped pantry ideal for tenant-hosted gatherings and casual meetups, alongside a shuffleboard table that adds a playful touch to the atmosphere. For moments of focus and privacy, enclosed phone rooms offer acoustic separation without sacrificing design continuity.

This transformation is more than a renovation—it’s a reinvention. The new tenant lounge invites people to linger, connect, and recharge, turning a forgotten corner of the building into a destination for everyday engagement.
